Our worship services are based on the scriptures. Here are the Bible answers for some of the most often asked questions:
Why do we lift our hands?
Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD. (Psalm 134:2)
I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. (1 Timothy 2:8)
Why does the whole congregation pray for specific needs?
19 Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever [anything and everything] they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven.
20 For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I AM in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:19-20 (AMP)
Why do we anoint with oil and pray for the sick?
Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. (James 5:14-15)
...They will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well. (Mark 16:18)
Why do we speak in tongues and have interpretation of tongues?
For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind. (1 Corinthians 14:14,15)
Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. (1 Corinthians 14:39)
If anyone speaks in a tongue, two? or at the most three? should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret.
(1 Corinthians 14:27)
